8/4 Reds Forecast

Good Friday morning!

A cold front is approaching from the west, and it will usher in an unseasonably cool and dry air mass heading into tonight.  Cooler than normal temperatures will continue over the next week.  The next system arrives Sunday into Monday with showers and storms.

We may see additional storms fire up ahead of the cold front this morning into early afternoon, with 40-50% coverage.  The front is expected to pass ~2pm, with dry conditions anticipated beyond then.  It will be a great evening for baseball, although it will be rather breezy and much cooler than normal.  Winds will shift from the southwest this morning to west, then eventually northwest going through the evening 10-30 mph.  Gusts should gradually decrease going through the evening.  Temperatures will fall from the low/mid 70s at first pitch to the middle 60s by the end of the game.

Saturday continues to look like a great day.  Mostly sunny skies are forecast, with some increase in clouds by game-time.  Afternoon highs nearing 80 with low humidity.  Winds will be much calmer, just a light west to southwest breeze 5-15 mph.

Changes arrive on Sunday, with shower and storm chances increasing by the afternoon.  Most models hold the majority of the rain chances until mid afternoon and beyond.  At this point, plan on low rain chances to start the game, with rain chances going up through the game.  Winds will be out of the southeast 5-20 mph.

Shower and storm chances will continue on Monday, but the majority of the rain looks to move out for the second half of the day, meaning only low rain chances by the evening game.  Winds will be out of the north 5-20 mph.  With clouds and precipitation, temperatures will be unseasonably cool.

Tuesday looks dry with a mix of sun and clouds.  Winds will be out of the northeast 5-10 mph with lower humidity.  Highs are forecast to hit the upper 70s.

Wednesday is forecast to be dry with mostly sunny skies.  Highs will reach the lower 80s, with variable winds 5-10 mph.  Models do show some rain to the south, so we’ll have to monitor if it trends further north.

Thursday looks mainly dry, with a slight storm chance late in the day.  Winds will be variable 5-10 mph.  Highs are forecast to reach the lower 80s.  At this time, it appears the afternoon game would stay dry.

We will continue to fine-tune this forecast over the coming days.  Have a great day, and let us know if you have any questions!
