Today's video: http://youtu.be/I1Z1t_s-q8o?hd=1 Good Monday morning everyone! A majority of the region is dry this morning as of 5:30am EDT with a few isolated pockets of showers and storms in north-central IN, northern IL, and along the Ohio River. NAM3km simulated radar through 5am EDT Tuesday: These isolated pockets of showers and storms will likely continue across the area this morning in limited coverage with more isolated pop-up showers and storms possible once again later this afternoon and evening. This will be the main story again today as a warm, humid air mass remains in place out ahead of an…

Good Sunday afternoon! This will be a quick update regarding storm chances this afternoon and evening. Stratiform clouds with a few spotty showers still remain across the southern portions of our area that will continue to diminish over the next couple of hours. Elsewhere across the OHV, a cumulus field has developed across IL into western IN and is likely a precursor to isolated pop-up showers and storms in the area over the next several hours. Widespread rains are not expected this afternoon and evening and many will stay dry. However, some locations will be trying to dodge hit or…

Good Sunday morning everyone! It was quite the busy day across the state of IL yesterday where multiple clusters of storms developed (one in the morning and a second one in the late afternoon and evening). A general 0.25-2" of rain fell across the state with the highest amounts located near Champaign, IL and just east of St. Louis, MO. A few localized areas observed 4"+ of rain. Radar this morning (7am EDT) shows widely scattered showers and embedded storms across central/northern IN with heavier showers and storms from southern IL to southern IN. HRRR simulated radar through 10pm EDT…

Good Saturday afternoon! Radar over the eastern portions of IL/northwest IN have become quite active over the last several hours. A cluster of storms developed over central IL and pushed east into northwest IN while gradually weakening as the storms lifted into a less conducive environment with notable dryness in the mid-levels of the atmosphere over IN. In the last couple of hours the cluster grew some additional storm appendages along its southern end between Springfield and Champaign, IL. Scattered showers and storms have also developed in the last couple of hours over portions of MO. The rain shield present…

Good Saturday morning! A cluster of heavy showers and storms continues to impact portions of northern IL as of 7:20am EDT. This area of heavy convection will continue to push ENE along a warm front across northeastern IL into far northern IN this morning. Additional pop-up showers and storms are firing further south in central IL. The environment out ahead of an approaching cold front will be supportive of heavy thunderstorms across IL into western IN this afternoon and evening. Additional storm development is likely after this morning's pop-up storms and convection across northern IL, mainly after 2pm EDT. Along…

Word to the wise. Model errors floating around on Twitter are WAY TOO COLD. M. The very cold EPS model runs you're seeing on social media were programmed wrong with a MASSIVE error in climo. The ECMWF climo system the model was using had a large bug and an email has been sent to ECMWF. We have worked with Ryan Maue from weathermodels.com to get this issue fixed and we have gotten it all taken care of. This is WHY our official outlooks have never been that cold to begin with but this is something we would never give away on Twitter.…

Today's video: http://youtu.be/_P3NrXPluSE?hd=1 Sim radar guidance tonight through Sunday morning is below...full details in today's video, but we wanted to highlight the best areas through this timeframe for storm coverage...key to remember these will be widely scattered and not everyone in these circles see quenching rains. Coverages mostly ~40/50% on average. Some of these may be on the strong/heavy side across Illinois especially late tonight: Precipitation guidance through Sunday morning is below...a base of 0.25-0.75" where it rains is likely, locally 1-2"+ can't be ruled out especially across Illinois and under any stronger storms. Ohio locations unfortunately look to stay…
