Video: http://youtu.be/Sz7kYIjyjaM?hd=1 Cut-off low brings pesky shower chances to the area today and Tuesday....highest coverage comes today.  Here is the forecast radar going forward from 6 this morning to 2pm EDT Tuesday: Here is a look at total rainfall through Tuesday night (a lot of this falls today through tonight)....focus remains south of I-70 where a general 0.5" to 1" will fall, with locally higher amounts likely across southeast Indiana.  Notice the totals taper with northward progression...portions of far northern Indiana only get a tenth inch or less, and northwest Illinois likely stays dry.  High temperatures over the next 4 days: Low temperatures over the next 4 days: Wind forecast over the next 4 days:

4-21-18 *SPECIAL SAT LONG RANGE UPDATE* Details on some latest thinking this morning next 3-4 weeks. https://youtu.be/11qNAPqcq8E We updated weeks 3/4 and May from yesterday. This is something I have never done before but after some additional research and data into the office here this morning I wanted to adjust. In the video I explain why. Please bear in mind we are coming off of uncharted territory here with respect to this pattern. To date this is the coldest April on record. We are working hard to come up with the best answers possible. My main reasons for the shift is the continuous signal for blocking the models fail to realize in the 11-15 day...once we come within the 10 day range they adjust drastically not only with temps but precip too (hints…

Video (5:40): http://youtu.be/qlT-CxRM-ZA?hd=1 Most of the area will stay dry throughout the weekend, with temperatures continuing to gradually warm.  Any rain chances would be confined to mainly far southern Illinois for Sunday.  Rain showers may drift further north into southern Indiana Sunday night/Monday.    Here is an animation of total precipitation from Sunday through Thursday of next week.  While most days offer a "chance" for rain, rain coverage each day will be hit/miss and light in most spots.  More details in the video. High temperatures over the next 4 days: Low temperatures over the next 4 days: Wind forecast over the next 4 days:

Today's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZraRwAd1Ik&feature=youtu.be&hd=1 Widespread freeze warnings and frost advisories south issued for areas dropping near to slightly below freezing into Friday morning where the growing season has begun: Simulated radar guidance through this morning shows a gradual trend to push the remaining show flurries to snow showers east, I-70 north across Indiana into Ohio...tapering off completely by around noon. A lot of sunshine is expected to start working in the second half of the day today, kicking off a much quieter weather pattern as we head into the weekend: Can't rule out very patchy fog into Friday morning north into IL and NW IN...won't be widespread and not expecting much of an impact from this but wanted to mention the risk: 7-day rainfall guidance illustrating the overall inactive and quiet…

Today's video: http://youtu.be/bj7LiSWykSQ?hd=1 Simulated radar guidance through the remainder of this snow evening as this wave pushes south and east...the bulk of the snow works east across northern IL around 3-4pmEDT exiting east by 3amEDT, entering Indiana by ~8-9pmEDT through 6amEDT...it does look like the bulk of the snow showers stay north of Indy, although a few flurries can't be ruled out. We also can't rule out some gusty rain showers I-70 south mainly across southern Indiana late afternoon into the evening, coverage not looking widespread: Snowfall accumulations latest guidance...key thing to understand is we will overall see a lag in temperatures too warm to see much of any accumulations on the pavement, however the red circled area we see 1-3" of slushy accum on mainly grassy/elevated surfaces and areas…

Today's video: http://youtu.be/kPgzfXMGYPE?hd=1 Current hazards...best shot for wintry weather in far northern IL today into tonight...additional freezing warns possible into Saturday morning with temps flirting with freezing or slightly below: Latest simulated radar guidance...wintry precipitation mixes in across the northern 1/3 of IL late afternoon at times mixing with sleet and slushy snow, pushing around I-70 north in Indiana late tonight and swing into Ohio overnight into Thursday morning; a few slick spots possible in northern IN where temps are near freezing, but as this wave works east temps will overall be above freezing with just light snow showers expected...not seeing widespread threats for slick spots or impacts to the roadways: Current thoughts for snow showers and light accumulations confined mainly northwest into northern IL, tapering off further east into Indiana and…

Today's video: http://youtu.be/w77GH9_dgqM?hd=1 Sim radar Wednesday morning into Thursday morning from west to east as our next wave of precipitation works east...some slushy snow showers work in mainly across northern IL, northern IN and drop down into central OH...given marginal temps mainly at or above freezing at the surface, it'll be very difficult to get any accumulations on the pavement, some light accumulations on grassy/elevated surfaces can't be ruled out; the heaviest wave of snow is likely across the IA/IL/WI border Wednesday. I-70 south locations will look to stay mainly precipitation-free: In terms of slushy snowfall accumulation and impacts...given current data, the best area for some slushy snow of 1-3" on grassy/elevated surfaces will be northern IN given temps near freezing...can't rule out a few slick spots. There is still…
