FORECAST VIDEO Todays big stories are severe weather across the Dakotas this afternoon and Tropical Storm Earl that is just 4 mph away from becoming a hurricane! An Enhanced risk of severe weather is in place across portions of the Dakotas for hail. While hail will be the main threat, damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be possible. Tropical Storm Earl is spinning down near the Yucatan Peninsula this morning with sustained winds of 70 mph. This is forecast to landfall as a hurricane in Belize around 2 AM Thursday morning.

FORECAST VIDEO The tropical disturbance is getting its act together today south of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. This storm is not yet a tropical storm, but it does look like the storm will be a named Tropical Storm this afternoon. The latest forecast model spread is in pretty good agreement that this system makes landfall in the Yucatan Peninsula. Back on land we can see there is a slight risk of severe weather is in place across the northern Plains today. Main risks will be damaging winds and hail.
