Allie Downs is from Plainfield, IN where she graduated high school in 2011. Allie has been studying weather patterns and phenomena ever since she was 5 years old watching hail build up on her front porch with tornado sirens blaring in the background. So it was no surprise that after high school she went straight to Valparaiso University(Valpo) in Valparaiso, IN studying Meteorology. Allie has also been driven to serve our community and country through mission trips including hurricane Katrina cleanup in New Orleans. She was driven to continue to serve so she joined the Indiana National Guard after graduating from Valpo in 2015. After some training she decided to get her masters degree from Indiana University in atmospheric science looking at hurricane climatology(graduated in 2019). Allie enjoys binge watching Netflix shows, going hiking with her fiancé Christian and her dogs Nymheria (yes it’s from game of thrones!! <3) and Dobby. She also enjoys reading and cross stitching whenever she gets the chance. She is very interested in how the weather affects our economy and how climate change will affect the future generations of not only our nation, but the world.
