Some strong to severe storms will be possible across portions of the Great Plains and Northeast today. Main threats across the Plains will be damaging winds, hail, and a couple isolated tornadoes. Damaging winds and hail will be possible across the northeast.
An area of high pressure will build into the Midwest, Great Lakes, and eventually northeastern U.S. This will allow cooler, drier air to spread in, giving some needed relief from the heat and humidity.
