Sunny to mostly sunny skies will be in place across the region today and will set up for a very nice start to the weekend across the forecast zones. However, late this evening into the overnight a northward surge in moisture may help a few isolated showers or a t’storm pop across the Illinois southeast through southern Ohio. While these showers will be possible, I do think they will be pretty isolated in nature.
Sunday afternoon/evening a few isolated showers and storms will become possible again with the heating of the day. Again, with the upper-level ridge in place, I think these will be very isolated in coverage.
Any rainfall over the next 48 hours will be isolated and mostly light in nature with most places seeing under .10”. However, a few localized areas that see a t’storm could see .40-.50” of new rainfall locally.
Sunday, heat and humidity will return to the forecast zones. Temperatures will be in the mid 80’s to low 90’s. However, some places will feel more like the mid 90’s to around 100° Sunday afternoon! With the heat and humidity in place an isolated shower or storm isn’t totally out of the question Sunday afternoon, but with the strong upper-level ridge in control, I think they will be very isolated.
Monday a cold front will approach from the northwest, but the big story will be the heat in front of it. Temperatures will soar into the 90’s to low 100’s across much of the forecast area Monday afternoon. With hot, humid air in place it will create dangerous levels of heat, with heat indexes from 95-110° across the forecast area. So if you do have plans outside SUN/MON make sure to stay hydrated, stay cool, and take frequent breaks!
