Sunny conditions are in place this morning across zones 6 and 7. However, a cold front is pushing southward across Illinois. While I do not expect much precipitation with the front, some isolated to widely scattered rain/storms could develop across southern zone 6 after 2-3 PM this afternoon.
The front will provide a couple days of relief from the heat. However, as an impressive upper-level ridge builds in late this weekend into early next week the heat will return. Temperatures Sunday and Monday will warm into the 90’s to near 100° in some locations!
The next best chance of rain looks to move in Tuesday afternoon with a southeastward advancing cold front. Exact timing and rainfall amounts are still in question; we will fine-tune the forecast as we get closer to the time period.
