Areas of rain and storms continue to move through zones 1 and 5 this morning. These will move out, but they will also leave behind some boundaries for afternoon t’storm development. Best timing for new thunderstorm will be around and after 2-3 PM this afternoon across the forecast area.
Strong to severe storms will be possible this afternoon and evening across zones 1 and 5. With boundaries in place, along with some upper-level energy, and strong instability, damaging winds, perhaps some hail, and a brief spin-up will be possible.
The environment will be saturated this afternoon and evening so heavy rain will be likely in localized areas. While some places may only see .10-.20” across the forecast area, places that get under the heavier t’storms or storm clusters could see 3-4” of new rainfall locally! With that in mind, some localized flash flooding could become a concern this afternoon and evening.
High pressure will build into the region to end the week; this will give us a brief break from the heat. However, an impressive upper-level ridge of high pressure will expand into the forecast area over the weekend. This will bring temperatures back into the mid 80’s to mid 90’s SAT/SUN/MON!
