Light snow for morning commute/snow bursts tonight. An area of very light and fine snow is moving in this morning. Its moving from NW to SE. While its possible it could coat the ground in locations SW of Indianapolis I just cant see it doing much more as there is not much upper level support and the air over Indiana is much drier than over in IL. At any rate look for some very lite snow between 6-9am.
Looking ahead to tonight snow bursts and snow squalls look to develop right around 3pm. These will move from NW to SE and will have the ability to offer up a quick 0.50-1″ of snow if you get under the heavier burst. They should fade around 11pm tonight as we lose any “heating” from the sun.
RPM at 3pm today showing the convective snow bursts developing, much like Tuesday night:
There will be an area of focus off of lake Michigan where we will watch for a few “streamers” to develop late tonight also and lasting into the overnight hours into Saturday AM as very gusty NW winds kick up tonight at times gusting to 35MPH. Where the stream of snow establishes its self accumulation is possible of 1-4″ esp closer to the lake you are!
RPM 30hr snowcast, keep in mind it will not show the snow bursts and their accumulation well at all but plan for it to make things slick tonight.
HRRR picking up on the idea of the snow bursts tonight. We will keep you updated today. M.
