Good afternoon folks. Looking in the short term of things between now and Thursday night I see no threats weather wise to be concerned of. Light showers work into the area Friday morning and off and on throughout the day Friday. Not much in the way of rain accumulation is expected.
Total rain Friday..wouldn’t be shocked to see these numbers come down some even..not a big deal.
As we look ahead to the weekend any snow chance looks to stay mainly south of I70 and east. Perhaps eastern zone 2/4 would get in on some snow showers but as of right now I don’t believe we see much of any snow unless a substantial shift occurs in the coming days. Showers end Saturday as an Arctic front comes through and brings some very cold air into the area by Monday AM!
As the Arctic air works in over the warm lake waters Im becoming concerned with heavy lake effect snows between Mon-Wed of next week. Its shown nicely on upper level charts but it will not show up on surface charts until late weekend. Prepare for lake effect snows early next week that will accumulate.

Meanwhile the Arctic chill reloads mid-week next week with lows in the single digits to perhaps below 0!
Overall next week we ALSO need to watch the potential for surprise clippers. Us the upper level trough will be north of us and Arctic air is in place its possible pieces of energy are sent down via the northern jet branch..as illustrated below:
